Review: Lush Mask Of Magnaminty

Hello everyone! There’s nothing better than a good old pamper session on a Sunday to get you ready for the next week so I busted out a face mask along with other things and I decided to share my thoughts on it with you!
Just to give you guys a background on my skin, I have been dealing with acne for as long as I can remember but it was very controllable. However, a month and a half ago my hormones decided to mess with me so I started breaking out like crazy on my jawline and on my cheeks. My skin is doing so much better now but at that time I thought my world is ending. I won’t get into it too much, but I’d love to do an acne journey post at some point. At the minute, I’m still trying to figure it out.
Along with changes in my diet and getting on the pill, I also started looking into new skincare products that would help keeping my acne at bay. That’s how I came across this face mask from Lush called ‘Mask of Magnaminty’.

I am a huge fan of Lush products but I’ve never tried one of their face masks before. If you are not familiar with Lush, first of all what are you doing with your life? Just kidding…but seriously, have a word. They are the superstars of handmade cosmetics and therefore their products all have a use by date within a few months of purchasing the product. After reading loads of reviews of people praising it, I decided to go ahead and purchase Mask of Magnaminty. It retails for £5.75 (125g.) or £9.95 (315g.) which is a little more than other fresh face masks as this one is self-preserving meaning that it lasts a lot longer and you don’t have to keep it in the fridge.
The product is described as a ‘multi-purpose mask with a mixture of gentle yet effective ingredients to clean, calm and clear the skin. Easily smoothed over the skin, this mask is made with peppermint oil to stimulate, marigold oil and chlorophyllin to treat the skin; evening primrose seeds and aduki beans to gently exfoliate as you remove it.’ Basically, you can use the mask on your face or your back during times of trouble (not talking about your love life here)…and let’s face it, we all have them.
As soon as you open the little pot the sweet smell of peppermint oil (a natural antiseptic that helps healing both blemishes and scars) hits you like a train. As I am struggling with a blocked nose this comes in handy when I need to clear the airways. That’s how strong the smell is. The mask has a thick and creamy consistency so you don’t have to use a lot to cover your entire face. Just make sure you apply it evenly. It also has a lumpy texture which I guess it comes from the ground aduki beans. The great thing about this texture is that the aduki beans work very well as an exfoliant so that when you rub the mask off, you also (gently) exfoliate your skin.
I have been using this twice a week and I would’t recommend it using it more than that because your skin simply won’t need it. I was amazed by how fresh this mask made my skin look. You are directed to leave it on for five to ten minutes…I left it on for fifteen but you will notice that keeping the mask on for more than that will make you face really tight.
The result? Wow. I don’t think my skin has ever felt as soft as it is when I use this mask. I’ve noticed a  real difference in my scars since I started using this products and it also helped making my pores look clean and tight. Because the mask has antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties it also helps soothe and protect the skin from breakouts.
I honestly can’t find any cons to this product and I would recommend it for all skin types. Mask of Magnaminty has definitely earned a permanent place in my skincare routine!

Had the same acne problem in the past few months before and during my period ! I keep it under control with lemon juice which is also good for scars but I will purchase this mask as soon as possible too. Sounds like a great one

As I promised I'm coming back to let you know how the mask worked for me. So far I only used it like 6-7 times and I'm absolutely in love with it ! Especially the smell 🙂 It makes me crave for mint ice cream. Although I still have a little acne when my hormones go crazy there is some improvement. Used regularly I believe it can solve the problem or at least keep it under control better than creams.
Surprinsigly it's not too drying either.
