Hit or Miss? Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

As a person who doesn’t have great skin, I am always on the hunt for a really good foundation that provides amazing coverage and longevity. About a month ago I was in Sephora looking for a new foundation when I spotted this fairly new release from Urban Decay. I had already read a couple of reviews on this product so I was aware that it was loved by a lot of girls, and after seeing its description I knew that I have to try it out because it has everything that I’m looking for in a foundation. It claims to be waterproof, full coverage, oil free and it provides a matte finish. Sounds like a dream, right?

Urban Decay says that “All Nighter Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Get serious long-lasting wear and a blown-out effect you never thought was possible. Perfect for all-night affairs and other scandalous activities, our revolutionary formula is also comfortable enough to wear every day.” It comes in 24 shades and it retails for £27, but I got mine in the US for $40.

I asked the lady in Sephora if I can get matched because I am really bad with picking the right foundation shade. Even if I got a tan this summer, I still am quite pale, and I also don’t know exactly at what undertones to look at. So I got matched and apparently my shade is 3.0- light with soft warm undertones. She applied some foundation on my chin and I was like heck yeah, it matches my skin perfectly.

Bear in mind, I bought this product a month and a half ago and right now I’m slowly going back to my pale old self which means that I’m not 100% happy with the shade anymore *sigh.

Speaking of shades, I think now it’s the right time to tell you about the one thing that I don’t like about this foundation…it freaking oxidises!! I was so disappointed when I saw that happening but I love that it sticks to its other claims so I try not to care that much about running around with a slightly orange face. It’s really not that noticeable but it just bugs me a little bit. Call it foundation pet peeve.

Now let’s talk about the coverage…WOW. I literally can’t express how amazing the coverage is! The formula is creamy and densely pigmented so you only need a tiny bit amount for the ultimate coverage. I have loads of dark spots at the moment and just a pump of this foundation manages to cover my entire face perfectly. Whenever I put it on, I feel like I’m applying a second layer of skin. It is flawless!

I tend to believe that this foundation is actually waterproof. I was caught up in a really unexpected situation where I had to go to a swimming pool with my makeup on. However, the foundation lasted really well even after being splashed with water in the face several times. True fact when Urban Decay said it’s perfect for scandalous activities. Thumbs up for that!

The finish of this foundation is quite matte which is nothing but great for my oily skin. I wouldn’t recommend this product for those of you who have dry skin because it might get really patchy. At some point, a few areas of my face got really dry and the foundation was clinging to those patches.

As for longevity…I actually wore this foundation for almost 24 hours at some point and I only had to blot my face once. It stays intact for hours and hours without changing its aspect (except for the oxidation).

All in all, I think I finally found my holy grail foundation, so it’s definitely a hit for me! It provides the coverage that I need, it lasts for ages ( I am a lazy person so I don’t really enjoy touching up my makeup a lot throughout the day), it is matte, but not the kind of matte that makes you skin look dusty and it just gives your face a flawless and natural look. Here are some pictures of me wearing this foundation

I have been so unsure about whether I should get this foundation as I love a good coverage, but didn't know if it would be too much. But you've totally convinced me that I need it!!! It looks gorgeous on you! And honestly, you aren't pale 🙈 When I went in and swatched it, the palest shade was about right for me, or the next one up 😂 xxx

You definitely need this foundation if you love a good coverage! I might need to go a shade or two lighter since my tan has started to fade. I don't like transitioning from summer to colder seasons when it comes to foundation haha xx

Wow, this has definitely made this foundation appeal a whole lot more! Quite annoying about the oxidisation, but I suppose that's just typical – it's so hard to find THE perfect foundation! Love the pics, you look gorgeous xxx

I've been waiting for this foundation for such a long time and it really sucks that it oxidises but looking at the colour match on you I don't think it is actually as bad as I feared. Thanks for sharing 😙

The oxidation is not that bad. Considering how much I love the finish and the coverage of this foundation I can live with that! If you were scared to try it, I really think you should go for it xo
