I remember the days when everyone used to be over the moon about Mac Cosmetics lipsticks. Literally every makeup obsessed girl had to own at least one (if not a dozen) of them. I think some of us can still identify with this ‘trend’ but as the makeup industry is so fast paced, there are tons and tons of new products that need to get in our collection. Don’t get me wrong, I am still lusting over a few lippies from Mac but in today’s post I decided to focus on another brand that has stepped up their lipstick game quite recently. And I’m looking at you Urban Decay!
A few months ago, Urban Decay probably had the biggest launch in the history of the brand: The Vice Lipstick in 100 colours! I mean, think about it…100 shades of lipstick! So crazy! During my recent trip to the US I couldn’t help but notice how lush Urban Decay’s display was in Sephora. I was automatically drawn to it like a child who is offered candy. As I am obsessed with lipsticks, I had to pick one and see why everyone seems to love the new Vice range.
The shade I picked up is called “Oblivion”. It has a mega matte finish and it is described as a “gray-taupe” colour. It is a light-medium, rosy-taupe with subtle, cool undertone which in my eyes looks quite purply. The packaging doesn’t look too different compared to Urban Decay’s original lipstick case but it was definitely luxed-up a bit. The gunmetal case has a gold base and debossed lettering, and the custom-designed lipstick features an embossed “UD.” They even added a shade-matched label (including the shade name and finish) to make it easy for you to find the right colour.
Don’t let the mega matte finish scare you. It might be a really intense matte but the formula of the lipstick is so creamy because it is loaded with nourishing ingredients such as aloe vera, jojoba, avocado and babassu oils. My lips have never been dry whilst wearing this lipstick. It is so comfortable to wear every single day!
The pigmentation in this Vice lipstick is incredible! Just one swipe and you get the perfect colour laydown. It also applies really smoothly without being draggy or patchy. I never expected that such a matte colour can be applied so easily and feel so creamy. It is also super long-wearing so you can eat or drink without worrying that your lipstick might wipe off.
All in all, I have discovered my new favourite lipstick! It is matte, but not drying, long-wearing and extremely pigmented! I have a feeling that I will be purchasing more Vice lipsticks…one shade down, 99 more to go!
Have you tried any of Urban Decay’s Vice lipsticks? What do you think of them?
