Am I the only one who is obsessed with holiday collections? Products that are being released around this time of the year always make me want to spend more than I can afford! I decided to splurge on a MAC product as I haven’t bought something from them for a really long time and I really loved their holiday collection. I got the Nutcracker Sweet Face Compact in ‘Peach’ as soon as it came out because I didn’t want to miss on the prettiest face kit I have ever seen. But is the product as nice as the packaging? Here are my thoughts on it.
While others went crazy over the ‘Copper’ Face Compact instead, judging by all the swatches I saw online, I found this one to be more suitable for my pale complexion. I think I made a weeping sound when I got this in the mail. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and it definitely gives me Christmas vibes. The fuchsia and burgundy design with the embroidered gold accents is the signature look for this year’s holiday collection. The compact doesn’t click close but it still feels really secure and sturdy and it also comes with a mirror inside.
The face compact features an Extra Dimension Blush in shade ‘At Dusk’ and an Extra Dimension Skinfinish in shade ‘Tutu’ which are both embroidered with the same print as the packaging.
‘At Dusk’ is described as a ‘warm rose’ colour while ‘Tutu’ is labeled as a ‘pale white peach’. This was my first experience with products from the Extra Dimension line and I have mixed feelings about it. Whilst ‘Tutu’ is everything I want in a highlighter and more, I have encountered some small issues with ‘At Dusk’. Don’t get me wrong, the colour of the blush is divine. However, its texture is quite firm in the pan and it has a tendency to fade throughout the day (even though it is supposed to have at least a six hour wear) so you really have to build it up on the skin. The highlighter has a bright, metallic finish which doesn’t look too dark and gold on my fair skin. I like applying a lot of highlighter but even with a lighter hand you would still get an amazing colour pay off. Its texture is really smooth and it blends out easily and it doesn’t fade as quickly as the blush.
Here are swatches of the blush and highlighter. Unfortunately ‘Tutu’ is a limited edition shade but I really hope they bring will it back in the near future because it’s too pretty!
I have been reaching for this compact every single day ever since I got it and I highly recommend you to try and get your hands on it! You can try and track it down at a MAC counter seeing that it is sold out online. It retails for £29 which is not too bad for a blush and highlighter!
