The Best Drugstore Moisturiser

I think I was about 14 years old when I realised that I had an oily skin and as a dumb teenager with no basic knowledge in skincare, I thought moisturiser shouldn’t be something that I have to use. Why would I put on something that would make my skin look even more greasy? Turns out my judgement was completely wrong and moisturiser for your face is just as important as water is for your body, no matter what skin type you may have. It’s all about picking the right product for you and I think I finally found my holy grail. It’s like I had to kiss a bunch of frogs before I found my prince.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, in my top 10 under £10 post (you can check it out here) I mentioned another Neutrogena moisturiser, the visibly clear oil free one, and that used to be my absolute favourite until I discovered their new range.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel is a really light and refreshing moisturiser that instantly quenches and hydrates the skin. It has a really watery consistency but it gets absorbed so quickly, leaving the skin looking very smooth and supple. You only need a tiny amount of product to cover your entire face and neck and since I use this as a morning moisturiser only, I guess this jar is going to last me for a while. There is a fragrance to this product, a very fresh and cooling scent but I do think it’s quite strong so if you’re sensitive to fragrance in your skincare, maybe this isn’t the right thing for you to use.
Even though the moisturiser looks a bit tacky, it doesn’t feel sticky at all on the face and it almost dries to like a powdery finish. I have noticed such a big difference in how my skin looks throughout the day with or without makeup on top of this product. If I do wear makeup, the Neutrogena moisturiser just makes everything look so much smoother so it basically acts like a primer as well. The Hydro Boost water gel gives my oily skin the perfect hydration boost without making it feel or look greasy. If you are part of the oily skin gang then you should definitely give this a shot.
So final verdict, I am getting along really well with this moisturiser and I will probably repurchase it over and over again. I love its texture, how quickly it gets absorbed and how soft it makes my skin feel. I personally like fragranced products like this one and I don’t have issues with irritations or anything like that. I finally can achieve all day lasting hydration without any added oiliness.
Have you tried any Neutrogena products? What is your favourite moisturiser?

Sounds like a pretty good product to try! I have combination skin so this isn't for me. But I use a moisturiser from Clinique at night and the Liz Earle moisturiser in the mornings 🙂
