Kat Von D has been in the UK for quite a while now but I never got around to try any of the products, despite the fact that people were raving about the brand left, right and centre. In February I attended the Blogosphere Magazine Valentine’s Tea Party event where Kat Von D had a stand for everyone to discover the latest products and even get colour matched for the Lock It foundation and concealer. The foundation was probably my most wanted product from the brand so obviously after I found out my shade and saw how good it looked on my skin, I made a mental note to purchase it as soon as possible.
However, a few days later I received a parcel that said Kat Von D on it and I’m telling you I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a parcel in my whole life. I had no idea what could be in it so imagine how surprised I was to find the freaking Lock It foundation in my shade. Besides testing this for the last couple of weeks, I’ve also been using an eyeshadow palette which everyone got in their goodie bags at the Blogosphere Magazine event. In today’s post I’m going to share with you my thoughts on both products.
Kat Von D Lock It foundation
If a foundation is described as long-lasting and full-coverage then you bet I’ll end up trying it and possibly loving it. Kat Von D is well-known for the Lock It foundation because it truly is an amazing product. My shade is L43 in case you were wondering, which is one of the lightest shade in the range and it matches me perfectly. It is also a fairly new shade, released by the brand just a few months ago. The coverage is full so if you have spots, redness, scars or anything, just one thin layer of this foundation will vanish the imperfections.
The foundation has a matte finish, like a reeeeaaallyyy matte one so I definitely think it is more suitable for anyone who was a combination/oily skin. I have oily skin and sometimes I feel like the foundation is so matte that it makes my face look too flat. Therefore, bronzer, blush and highlight are a must to make me look alive.
I’ve never worn makeup for longer than ten hours but the other day I had my face on for about 19. I was not expecting this foundation to last for so long. At the end of those 19 hours it still looked impeccable, it didn’t fade, it didn’t rub off, NOTHING. And I only powdered my face once after I put the foundation on and then once more after about five hours of wear. Amazing, right?
Kat Von D Shade+Light eye palette
When I first opened the palette I thought the shades are not really my cup of tea. I’ve never been a huge fan of pink/purple eyeshadows but I did try them out as I wanted to check out their quality. Now I have to confess, this palette grew on me. I’ve been using two of the shades a lot and they look quite nice on me.
Besides the packaging being absolutely gorgeous, what I like most about them is that they’re super pigmented but so easy to blend so you won’t get any harsh lines. All the shades are matte and they aren’t chalky at all. I think I need to invest in more Kat Von D eyeshadows, maybe in some colours that I now I would wear more often.
Overall, I fell head over heels for this brand and I already know what products I want to try next. The Lock It foundation has rapidly become one of my all time favourites and I would definitely go out and purchase it myself once I finish this bottle. Despite not being a pink eyeshadow lover, the Shade+Light palette has an amazing quality so I’m really tempted to try out some other colours.
I hope you enjoyed this post and please let me know in the comments below if you’ve ever tried Kat Von D products or planning to do that in the future!
