Skincare routine: a bit on the side

Great skin starts with a consistent routine and although I keep mine pretty simple, sometimes I need something extra, a little pick me up to keep my face in the best conditions. That’s where products like face masks or pore strips come in handy. I am obsessed with face masks and I’ve tried so many of them but I think I finally narrowed it down to my top three favourites that target three different skin concerns. What’s even better is that they’re really inexpensive so I don’t need to break a bank to that my skin nicely. Here’s what I use whenever I feel like showing my skin a little TLC.

When my skin gets really oily or I see clogged pores and spots ready to come out, I know it’s time to bust out my Origins Clear Improvements charcoal mask. This is my go-to rescue mask because in just 15-20 minutes it manages to clear out my pores and get rid of all the dirt and oils that are sitting on my face, leaving it really smooth and soft like a baby’s butt. I usually use this once a week or every two weeks, depending on how my skin is behaving and sometimes I would also use it for multimasking, in combination with a brightening mask. This Origins mask is probably the most expensive one I own. It retails for about £24 but it does such an amazing job and a tube lasted me for about a year so I think it’s worth the price tag.

This is like magic in a pot. The L’oréal Pure Clay Glow Mask is amazing if you feel like your skin is looking a little dull or if you have uneven skin tone. It contains a combination of three powerful clays that literally do miracles. You only have to leave it on for like five minutes and after you rinse the mask off you will instantly get a really smooth feeling when you touch your skin. The face mask has some small particles that gently exfoliate and remove excess sebum and other impurities, making the complexion look clearer and brighter. It is recommended to use this two or three times a week but because I alternate a lot between my face masks, this one ends up being used just once a week. Even so, I still get amazing results from it.

I’m sure you’ve already seen this mask everywhere but it’s so good I couldn’t not mention it, plus it’s like 99p. in Boots so SCORE! I don’t suffer from dehydrated skin but I still like to get that extra moisture in. It’s also hard not to love sheet mask. They’re easy to apply and super refreshing. I think this one from Garnier has the perfect amount of serum to quench your skin’s thirst and if there’s any residue left afterwards it gets absorbed really quickly into the skin. I love how hydrated and radiant my face looks after I’ve used this mask.

Pore Strips

I find pore strips to be really fun to use but also a bit disgusting. The amount of dirt and blackheads that I see coming off is unreal but it’s also proof that the product it’s doing the job, right? My personal favourites are the pore strips from Bioré and I always pick up the charcoal ones. I try to use them at least once a week and I’m always left gasping at what comes off my nose. Sometimes removing the pore strips is a bit painful but it’s so worth it. If you don’t use pore strips on a regular basis then I advise you to do so because they are literally life changing!
Gotta go now and put a face mask on but I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have product recommendations please leave a comment below because I love trying out new face masks!
