Updating my skincare cupboard with The Body Shop

It looks like every other post on my blog is skincare related but I swear after this one I’m giving you a break…or maybe not. The reason why I keep trying new products is that my skin has been acting like a little bitch these days so of course I went into panic mode to try and fix it as fast as possible.
So what do you do when you freak out and need advice on what could be good for your skin? You go on Twitter, pop the question and there will always be someone with some recommendations at the ready.
I was initially looking for a new cleanser for my oily/acne prone skin and a couple of people said that the Tea Tree range from The Body Shop should be uh-mazing. I’ve never really tried any skincare products from The Body Shop so I went into the store, splurged on a few items and updated my skincare cupboard with a cleanser, a toner, an exfoliator and some tea tree oil. After using this stuff for a little while I can totally see the hype over the brand’s skincare range and why people said I should try The Body Shop.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser

I’ve tried foaming cleansers before but they usually turned foamy when they got in contact with water and my skin. This one, however, it looks like a liquid in the bottle but when you pump out the product, it comes as a straight up foam. It has quite a strong scent, but it’s not overpowering. It cleans the skin very well and removes any dirt, makeup or whatever you may have on your face. The product is formulated with tea tree (duh) which is supposed to be a really good ingredient that fights blemishes. Obviously just a cleanser won’t miraculously heal your spots, but it will definitely make a difference over time. This cleanser is also making my skin a little less oily, but it is not drying at all. So I’d say if you’re part of the acne prone skin gang, then you should definitely try this product.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Toner

I am a really big fan of toners. They just make me feel so nice and refreshed and they leave my complexion squeaky clean after I’ve just cleansed. As I mentioned a million times before, I have quite an oily skin so when I saw the word “mattifying” on the bottle I was like YES…give it to me!!! And let me tell ya, this toner does the job perfectly. I use it in the morning after cleansing and before moisturising and all that and I think it’s making quite a difference in the way my makeup lasts throughout the day. It literally gets rid of any signs of oiliness, creating a smooth and matte base for the following skincare products, foundation, etc. etc. Again, the smell of tea tree is quite strong but it doesn’t really bother me. I think this toner wouldn’t be really suitable for those of you who have dry skin because it would probably dry it out even more.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

This right here is like magic in a bottle if you’re dealing with spots. Tea tree oil is well known for helping with blemishes and although I’ve had to deal with breakouts for as long as I can remember, I never gave this solution a try. It takes quite a while for the oil to heal aggressive breakouts like the painful ones that you might get under your skin, but with normal ones, instead of popping them, you better put some tea tree oil on and they will be gone super fast, with minimal scarring. You’re supposed to apply this only on the affected areas, which is what I did because I always follow instructions. As soon as the tea tree touches the skin, you will feel it working because it itches a little. But it’s not gonna burn your skin or anything. It’s just gonna dry out the spot that you put it on.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel

Hands down the best exfoliator out there. I’m saying this because it is so gentle on the skin but at the same time you can see all the nasty stuff coming off. The way this works is you put one or two pumps on your clean, dry face, rub it for like 20 seconds and then you rinse. After just a few seconds of rubbing you will notices dry skin, impurities and dirt coming off right before your eyes. It’s crazy and it may sound absolutely disgusting but this proves that the product is working and it’s actually doing something good. The first time I used this I was a little horrified seeing the dead skin rolling on my face but after rinsing I immediately noticed the results. My skin was soft like a baby’s butt, I couldn’t stop touching it. Although it is not recommended to use this more than twice a week, it’s really hard not wanting to exfoliate every freaking day when a product is this good. Who doesn’t want super soft skin 24/7?
All in all, I’m really happy about my purchases from The Body Shop and I’m now hooked on their skincare ranges. I really want to try some more products from them, not necessarily skincare related, so if you have any suggestions then don’t forget to leave a comment down below!
