Winter is creeping up on us with its super low temperatures and even snow. Sometimes I get frostbite just by looking out the window. As winter does its worst, my lips are getting chapped, skin is in a horrible state and the nose is red at all times so I can just apply for a reindeer position and work for Santa Claus. So to sort out all of the issues mentioned above, I went through my beauty cupboard and hand-picked a selection of products that I know for sure they’re gonna be my saviours this winter. Also the new year is rapidly approaching and I need all the help I can get to walk into 2018 looking ethereal..well, more or less.
The Chemistry Body Oil
I am a terrible person when it comes to body care. I have plenty of creams, lotions and body butters but I completely neglect them. And I have to admit it, I am lazy and even when my skin gets so dry and I start resembling to a reptile, I still won’t put on that body butter. Some of you may think that being lazy is not an excuse, so I have another one coming up. I absolutely hate the way some body products make my skin feel. They just don’t get absorbed really well and they leave this greasy, sticky layer on top of the skin and I just don’t like it. But recently I made a discovery that’s making me stop being lazy and start taking better care of myself. It’s the retin-oil from The Chemistry Brand. I like it because it’s a dry oil which means it gets absorbed pretty fast, it does an amazing job at moisturising and softening the skin and the best part is that it doesn’t leave it greasy. I know it says on the bottle that it’s for scars, stretch marks etc. but I use it purely for nourishing purposes.
7th Heaven Charcoal Peel Off Mask
It isn’t really me if I don’t feature a face mask in a post where I talk about skincare, am I right? You know I love a good face mask and this is my most recent discovery. It’s like on of those scary black masks that were all over the Internet a while ago and I’m not gonna lie, it is pretty good and peeling it off is so satisfying. Even if it’s winter and I should probably use more hydrating masks, I have a problematic skin so I need a nice cleanse and detox from time to time. This particular mask is perfect because it gets rid of all impurities, like I can see blackheads, witheheads and other nasty stuff coming out when I peel it off. However, it doesn’t make my face feel dry at all. Everything is nice and soft.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
Hands down one of the best moisturisers out there if you have acne prone skin. I remember the days when I was young and naive and I thought moisturising was not for me because my skin is already oily. Wow that was very stupid of me to think that. Oily skin or not, I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to put that stupid moisturiser on. And it’s 10 times more important to do it now, in winter. My current favourite is Effaclar Duo because it is made for people with bad skin like your truly, and not only it hydrates very well but it also helps with correcting imperfections and marks. This is a life saver, I’m telling ya.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
If you need some extra hydration in your life, or in your skin, then you should definitely go for a face oil. I love this one from Kiehl’s and it only takes two drops of this magic potion to make me feel like a changed woman. This product claims to do wonders overnight and if you’re an impatient person like myself then your wildest dreams are coming true. With most skincare products you have to wait weeks and weeks before seeing an actual difference but I did feel like I woke up with better skin the first time I used this oil. Overall, it is an amazing product that’s gonna help boosting hydration, make your skin look calmer and a bit more even.
Carmex Lip Balm
I honestly don’t know why I haven’t started this post with a bloody lip balm because it is my number one essential during the cold months. As much as I love looking festive wearing a red lip all day every day, sometimes it gets too much. The change in temperature and the wind are taking their toll on me and I end up with chapped, flaky lips. When that happens, I need to bust out the lip balm and slather it all over 25626 times a day. At the moment I’m loving the Carmex cherry lip balm. It soothes, it protects, it moisturises, it even has SPF 15 and most importantly, it smells delish.
These are my five winter skin saviours that will get me through these dark and cold days. If you have any other suggestions please leave them in the comments section. I’d love to hear from you!
